The ideal position . . . .                                                                            Top of Page

An ideal position would be a position where I can utilize my personnel management and engineering skills in solving complex technology issues while generating motivation in all those with whom I am involved.

Type of position I am seeking . . . .

The type, title, level and functional position that I am seeking is Director or Manager of Telecommunications or Information Technology in any industry or organization.

Types of responsibilities will allow you to fully use my skills and experience . . . .

I would like a position which permits my passive (and sometimes active) involvement in the engineering, deployment and operation of technology systems while managing and motivating the personnel involved

When I find myself most challenged . . . .

I am most challenged generating unique solutions to complex problems, fostering strong vendor management relationships, implementing and operating large complex technology systems, motivating department personnel to attain the impossible; developing department polices, processes and procedures

I am most motivated when . . . .

Impact that physical environment have on my job satisfaction . . . .

Depends on exactly what the physical environment encompasses – personal office, adequate support personnel, sufficient technological personnel, up-to-date equipment and systems. If management addresses most of those issues that I determine as priorities in a pro-active manner, I will personally attain a high level of job satisfaction.

My strong geographic preference . . . .

I am ONLY interested in positions in the Chicago, Illinois area. My wife has a very financially rewarding position and some of her immediate family lives only an hour away in Rockford, Illinois. My residence is strategically located to provide expressway access for travel in all directions.

Style of management in which I function the best . . . .

I function best when I am managed indiscreetly by my immediate supervisor – supervisor to define the expected goals and let me direct and motivate the ‘team’ in attaining these goals without a lot of senior management overview

Travel is acceptable . . . .

Travel is always involved in any position that I have served. I recognize that during the initial period in a new position travel may be high, up to 2 weeks per month. Once I have become acclimatized to the new position, I would like to keep travel limited to 2 or 3 days per month (or less). I recognize that face-to-face meetings can be very productive in building relationships and therefore utilize video teleconferencing when available. Some specific instances or situations may require increased travel on a temporary basis.

Environmental pace . . . .

I have operated in both types of environments, my preference would be a slower-paced environment to provide the opportunity to review, document and configure systems for maximum performance and efficiency. When necessary I can accelerate to a faster-paced environment for short periods of time (3 to 6 months)

I prefer not to relocate . . . .                                                                       Top of Page

I do not believe in misleading any prospective employer, I would state that I am not interested in moving anywhere at this time. My wife has a very good position and her sister lives only an hour away.

“What are you major accomplishments?”

During my years of addressing management problems, I have had a number of major accomplishments

I have exhibited the capability on many occasions to address and resolve numerous complex technological problems requiring the involvement of diverse personnel.

I believe my most prominent accomplishment was performing as the key architect and operations manager to keep the (then) world’s largest airline flying. This occurred during and after a major building fire, which destroyed the main operations center resulting in saving the company a loss of $ 1 billion.

I have had many opportunities to motivate and assist personnel to achieve goals that they initially thought were impossible.

“Tell me about yourself . . .”

I am a professional business and technology manager with an engineering background.

I enjoy working with diverse groups of people and helping them succeed in their goals.

I work well with all levels of personnel and generating cohesive organizations.

I treat people the way I would like to be treated.

I feel that I can help . . . .

I believe that I would contribute 20 years of personnel, business and technology management experience and a number of substantial successes that can be applied to assist in addressing problems within any company or organization.

I believe that I have been instrumental in a number of success . . . .

I have been able to provide significant cost savings and improved operational efficiencies during a number of previous positions. In addition, I provided services, which assisted in preventing a $ 1 billion loss of revenue.

What have you learned at your job in the last three years?

The life of a consultant can be very demanding in different aspects. The most unlikable issue as a consultant is travel. At one point in my consulting career, I was spending 85% of my time out of town. I recognize that I want to return to a permanent position as an employee with limited amount of travel.

Valid criticisms have been made of my work . . . .

Sometimes my work maybe considered too detailed when generating analysis and supporting documentation. SOME people have mistaken my high-level of enthusiasm for intimidation. Once someone gets to know me, they are then no longer intimidated.

People succeed or fail . . . .

I believe that people succeed when they are able to foster team efforts, properly utilize the expertise of each member to address specific issues and problems and can motivate each individual to attain higher levels of performance.

Success means to me . . . .

Success means watching the personal growth of individuals, the successful operation of complex technology systems and personally receiving commensurate compensation for the success of the ‘team’.

Goal changes over the last five, ten or fifteen years . . . .

My principal goal has been to obtain gainful employment and to contribute to the success of people, projects and my employer. There have not been any major changes in my goals over the past 15 years.

My management style . . . .

Providing coherent reliable direction while generating enthusiasm and support by all people involved.

How would you describe yourself as a decision maker?

I would describe myself as an informed, decisive and committed manager.

How do people react to you?

In initial meetings, I promote laughter, discussion of issues, understanding and the need to work as a team. As time progresses, many people respect my direct no-nonsense approach.

Spend my spare time . . . .

I spend most of my spare time with my wife, family and friends. We like to travel and have visited a number of foreign countries. I dabble in working around the house, on my computer, outside in the yard and on my automobiles.

Some things that annoy me . . . .

Things that annoy me are: incompetence, misrepresentation, laziness, gossip, whining, complaining, braggart

Types of people influence me . . . .

People that influence me are those: who exhibit strong leadership, who possess in-depth experience, who inspire others to attain higher goals and those who provide consistent logical direction.
